Yard Work

12 Oct

Every time my brother mows their yard, he is presented an envelope, usually handmade, with specific details of the transaction. It was suggested that this could be a receipt for tax purposes.

Sardines

3 Oct

During my first semester of college, Gilda sent me a care package — a box full of sardines. Here is the note she included:

( <– Emily’s birthday!)

Dear Sheila,
If I were you I
would get the small
bones out of the sardines
before I ate them and
throw the bones away.

Stay Well Soon!

28 Sep

Around this time in 2009, I received some ‘get well soon’ type cards. This was very, very sweet – however, I hadn’t been sick…Good thing it’s the thought that counts, I guess. 🙂

From Gilda:

A theme that will follow many cards from Aunt Hilda:
“Sheila here is a dollar so you won’t be broke. HA.”

Today’s Lesson: Thrifty Birthdays

25 Sep

With birthdays on the brain, I thought I’d share the cards Hilda and Gilda sent me for my 23rd birthday.

From Gilda
: A unicorn card, unsigned so I can give it to someone else. Thrifty!

From Hilda
: A card addressing her suspicions of the postal service. Also Thrifty!
