Hilda & Gilda’s 80th Birthday
25 SepHilda and Gilda recently celebrated their 80th birthday!
Here’s what they had to say about being 80!
“Well, honey, I don’t feel any older.” – Hilda
“I don’t feel older either honey. I feel better than I did when I was 19.” – Gilda
Unbelievable
18 SepIt has come to our recent attention that Gilda put a green rubber snake in her younger brothers bed when he annoyed her… I need more details on this.
Happy Easter, Bach Bach!
2 MayHere are this year’s and last year’s Easter baskets from Hilda and Gilda. They include unique foods (cheese crackers in 2011 & rabbit shaped marshmallows in 2012) stuffed inside. Happy Holidays!
Fancy Jackets
7 JanFor Christmas, Gilda gave my sister and me what she kept calling “fancy jackets.” You may know them as “scrubs.”
Norma Sheila Gets Dropped Off
5 JanFrom Norma Sheila, on being dropped off at Hilda and Gilda’s:
I ring their doorbell. Hilda answers the door, lets me in, takes my coat, and we go to the living room to sit and talk. I hear Gilda walking up the hall towards us, then she stops. I can see Gilda’s shadow on the wall, but I can’t see her. I hear Gilda walk through the dinning room and she leans way over to see who Hilda is talking to. I say, “Hello, Aunt Gilda.” She nearly starts dancing. She is so excited.”It’s Norma Sheila!!!” She is laughing at herself. She said that she couldn’t figure out who Hilda was talking to. My plan was to visit with them and then walk home for exercise. When I shared this plan…in stereo, I hear to the right and to the left of me,”Oh! No! You can’t walk home! It’s too cold for you to take your exercise! I’ll drive you home!” Hilda feeds me a plate of ice cream and a cracker. Then Gilda drove me home.
I had not ridden with Gilda since I was 14 years old. Her driving scares the life out of me. Gilda tapped the breaks 7 or 8 times to slow down to turn in my driveway. When she saw that it was clear to pull in the driveway, she gassed it. Coming down the driveway, she commented that Mr. Smitherman taught her to drive 35 miles per hour on dirt roads. I reassured her that we didn’t need to go that fast in my driveway because of deer.
I am lucky to be alive right now.
